IT IS NOT THE ABSENCE BUT THE DESIRE FOR PRESENCE

“In the 19th century, the dressmakers (mostly women) who longed to find a partner started acurious ritual. They should go during the Saint Antony day (June 13) to the Hermitage of SanAntonio de la Florida and throwing 13 pins into the holy water font to then, place their hand on them. When removed, the number of pins that had been stuck on the palm signified the num- ber of suitors they would have during the year. “The one that pins deepest is the good one”

This story and ritual gave rise to a process in which different questions appeared around the term faith and miracles. The factr that in different cultures the idea of asking for and puttingenergy into something non-tangible to seek luck in different contexts of our lives has beenvery present in our history as a society.

In this way, through the observation of these petitions and rituals, it becomes noticeable in which areas during our lifetime there has always been a lack and a need to satisfy or fulfil this absence and desires, that for centuries have always been associated to love, relationships, money or fortune.

It is not the absence but the desire for presence explores the idea of desire and faith. How we put energy into something non-tangible to achieve what we desire in a tangible way.”
